With the 2024 Baseball & Softball season fast approaching there is lots to celebrate about how far UK Baseball and Softball has come. For example, in recent years, there has been greater emphasis on diversity and popularity in the games as more people get involved!

Last year was a banner year for UK baseball and softball, packed with growth, international success, and exciting events. Some of last year’s highlights included soaring participation across clubs of all ages and abilities. “Get into the Game” initiatives welcomed first timers and youth academies showcased the talent to come!

Whilst the men's baseball team secured a historic victory at the European Baseball Championship, raising eyebrows and expectations. The women's softball team remained a European powerhouse, consistently challenging for top honours. Both teams inspired a new generation of players and boosted national pride.

The MLB London Series, featuring the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, drew record crowds, solidifying baseball's growing popularity in the UK. The BBF Summer Cup saw fierce competition amongst club teams, crowning the national champions. Local tournaments and festivals throughout the year provided vibrant community settings to celebrate the sports.

As we look ahead we can expect an even more exciting ride for UK baseball and softball in 2024. Major events like the WBSC U23 World Cup and the return of the MLB London Series are already generating buzz. The continued dedication to grassroots development and international competitiveness bodes well for the future of these sports in the UK.

The upcoming MLB World Tour: London Series. On June 8th-9th New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies will meet in a two-game regular-season series. There will be ballpark food inspired by the two cities in the US and live entertainment. This will be an event to inspire the next generation for years to come in British Baseball. Softball Events

What are some of the main events for Softball in the UK over 2024?

WBSC Europe General Congress is taking place in Malaga, Spain, this February, the congress will bring together baseball and softball leaders from across Europe to discuss the future of the sports in the region.

The Windsor & Maidenhead First Ball Tournament is this April, teams will compete in this traditional tournament, marking the start of the softball season in the Windsor and Maidenhead area.

And kicking off in May is the Great Britain Fastpitch League . A premier fastpitch softball league with teams from across the UK battling it out for the coveted title.
